Current Gifts
Faith is a response to what God has done and continues to do for us. As Christians, we believe that forgiveness and eternal life are gifts of grace from God. They are not something we deserve; but rather gifts from a loving God. One way that we respond to these gifts is to make offerings of our financial resources so that this gospel message is taught and preached. Through our offerings, we can make a difference in people’s lives every day!
At First Lutheran, we make two financial promises to support the ministry of Christ’s church.
- First Lutheran General Fund provides the financial support for all of the core ministries of the church. The congregation also gives gifts to worthy beneficiaries that provide resources for children’s ministries, bible camping, emergency assistance, overseas missionaries, seminaries, nursing homes, etc.
2013 Promise Card - Blessed To Be A Blessing is an initiative that seeks to meet the ongoing and growing needs of individuals and families in the Stoughton area as well as those who live beyond Stoughton’s city limits.
Blessed To Be A Blessing is FLC’s Mission Emphasis.
Gifts can be made to one, several or all of the following organizations:
Habitat For Humanity is an ecumenical Christian Ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. The cost of sponsoring a Habitat For Humanity House is around $90,000. Depending on congregational gifts, FLC could sponsor a house on its own or work with partners to build one.
Stoughton Area Resource Team (START) partners with local agencies to meet critical human needs of people in the Stoughton area. It offers resource development, counseling and direct assistance to clients.
Dr. Mark and Linda Jacboson are medical missionaries at Selian Lutheran Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania. They are from the upper midwest and have served in Africa for over three decades. Watch a video about their work.
Every day in 35 countries, Lutheran World Relief (LWR) works to combat the causes of poverty and the dignity it robs from people’s lives. Remember the earthquake in Haiti? Lutheran World Relief was one of the first groups on site to help those affected by the disaster. LWR Disaster Response is one of the highest ranked charities in the world.
Lutherdale Ministries, located just north of Elkhorn, WI, provides a ministry of hospitality twelve months of the year. The summer is busy with wonderful camping programs for children, youth and families of all denominations. Youth can get to know Jesus in the great outdoors! Lutherdale receives no support from any denomination and depends on gifts from churches and individuals, as well as tuition.
