Gifts for Those in Need
FLC collects donated items throughout the year to serve others.
Below are some of the opportunities to donate.
Stoughton Food Pantry
Stoughton Food Pantry offers low-income families from the Stoughton area an opportunity to receive free food. Donations of non-perishable goods can be dropped off at the church any time in the food pantry receptacles.
FLC participates in The Souper Bowl of Caring which utilizes Super Bowl weekend to fight hunger and poverty in their local communities
School kits
Items for school kits are collected through the month of September each year. Items are given to Lutheran World Relief and Stoughton Area School District. These kits are used to teach students of all ages at home and abroad.
Baby Baskets
Each month volunteers fill 7-10 baby baskets with items donated by First Lutheran members. These baskets are given to new mothers in the Stoughton area through Dane County Human Services.
Giving Tree and Manger
The Giving Tree or Mitten Tree is an opportunity for donors to give gloves, mittens, scarves, jackets, etc. for needy families in the county. Donations are made at the church and distributed to regional social service agencies.
The Manger is set to remind us that Jesus is the gift that came as a baby many years ago. To honor that gift, the Social Ministry Committee invites members to donate new or gently used baby items for baby baskets.
Turkey Drive
A Turkey Drive is organized in November. FLC collects and delivers Turkeys and all the fixings to local families in need. The Stoughton School board gives the church names of families who could the meal. Church members deliver the uncooked meals on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
